My name is Morgan and I’m a Senior Digital Matte Painter based in Montréal with a background in both VFX and Feature Animation.

From a young age, I always had a pencil in hand. Pausing my favorite VHS tapes to draw each frame–rewinding and replaying scenes until every detail was right! I was captivated by the artistry of the hand-painted characters and backgrounds and inspired to recreate those worlds. One of my greatest sources of inspiration has been Don Bluth with films such as: The Secret of Nimh (1982), The Land Before Time (1988), Thumbelina (1994) and American Tail (1986).

My love for art has expanded over the years into various interests–photography, concept art, children's book illustration, to name a few. Always with the optics of capturing or creating a vibrant world–this is also my approach when it comes to translating ideas and concepts into a matte painting.

Currently, I’m a Lead Matte Painter at Cinesite in the Feature Animation division, where I manage a team to ensure seamless communication between artists, supervisors, and directors. My role involves meeting project goals, leading briefings and breakdowns, and developing our matte painting pipeline to enhance efficiency and quality in every deliverable.
